Native to the deserts of southern Africa, the Candelabra tree is a succulent tree, often mistaken for a cactus. Like a cactus, these plants love sunlight and will do best in a bright, sunny window, or on a full sun balcony in the summertime. They are desert plants, so they can handle dry condo air with ease, and only need to be watered when their soil is completely dry. Be careful with handling this plant! It has sharp spines, and if it is broken or damaged it produces a milky sap that can be irritating to skin.
